PHOTOS AREn’t ENOUGH: is a travelogue zine of the time I spent in Portugal in 2018, though short and sweet—this moment planted a seed that would soon blossom into a path I could not have foreseen. Looking back at souvenirs from this trip I now better understand how I got to where I currently am. This object thus, also serves as a preview to L|A.

One of my favorite activities while traveling is sitting for hours drawing/writing while observing the world around me. Portugal felt incredibly vibrant—hand-painted tile engulfing whole buildings, every wall a blank canvas for street artist, neighborhoods with melodies pouring out of cracked doors/windows or golden lit alleyways… pulling you in without a second thought. It was the perfect landscape for inspiration and daydreaming.

So I’m sure you can understand how it would be easy to fall in love with a city like Lisbon.

This zine, I guess, in a way… is also a thank you to the city that helped light a spark in me.

This 28-page, full color zine is made up of photos that are accompanied by sketches, notes/journal entries I made while in Portugal. Each chosen because I felt it best reflected not only the Lisbon I experienced, but also where I was at personally in relation to this trip.

PORTUGAL, LISBOA: PHOTOS AREn’t ENOUGH: was printed locally in Los Angeles, CA. Sketches and journal entries are hand-sewn in to each zine as they are ordered, along with a pre-stamped postcard. Limited edition of 100.
