L’EVOLUTION DES ENFANTS (2011) is a show exploring how we, like our heartbeats, evolve over time.
We start our life with a heartbeat that is consistently faster than at any other point in our lives, averaging between 120-160. When we leave the womb, our heartbeats stabilize only revisit this rapid heartbeat for a short stint of time while either in movement or emotion.
‘LEDE’ explores in color and shapes how our connection to this initial heartbeat evolves over each state of our lives.
HB160A: The creation of SELF: BIRTH | in a constant state of change and growth. Blood is pumping rapidly through our body, aiding us in becoming a full fledge human. We are all heart, mind, and body.
HB160B: the CHILD: MOVEMENT | surrounded by the new, first, all while in a body that is still rapidly changing. Giving us new parameters to experience the world around us.
HB160C: (NOT SHOWN) the ADOLESCENT: HESITATION | In a place of more constants. More existential growth than physical growth. The world is slightly heavier, but still full of possibilities and dreams.
HB160D: the YOUNG ADULT: DRIVE | feeling the weigh of life, when comparisons, crisis, and competition take priority over curiosity. Fueling and driving us into our future self.
HB160E: the ADULT: BEING | is reconnection, reflection, and acceptance. Knowing even though there is no returning to the heartbeat of our childhood, it always has a home in our present.
